It’s the first time somebody who fought in opposition to the jihadist group has been charged underneath UK terror laws, in accordance with Britain’s Crown Prosecution Service.
James Matthews, a former British soldier in accordance with the UK Press Affiliation, appeared at Westminster Magistrates Courtroom in central London on Wednesday.
The 43-year-old is charged with having attended a spot or locations in Iraq and Syria the place coaching was offered “for functions linked with the fee or preparation of acts of terrorism.”
